Meet the Team
Founder & CEO: Emily Schoerning, PhD
Dr. Schoerning is an experienced non-profit leader with a background in science communication research. She began working in climate outreach in 2014. Dr. Schoerning founded American Resiliency in 2021 with the goal of getting useful climate information into the hands of every American. She lives with her family, a young prairie, and many other living things in rural Iowa.
Director of Operations & Development: Eleasa Gonzalez
Eleasa Gonzalez lives on the edge of a woodland ecosystem in the state of New York. Eleasa’s support for AR began in the organization’s very early days. She has often kept Dr. Schoerning from doing dumb things. Eleasa’s ability to bring people together transcends barriers, and her organizational skills power AR’s ability to scale. Her hire in January of 2025 has made our ground launch possible.
